Dealix to power Yahoo Autos quote platform

Dealix will now power the quote platform for Yahoo Autos. It's quite a coup: Dealix does the same for MSN Autos and AOL Autos. Add to that deals to distribute leads created on Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book, and the company is rapidly conquering the automotive classifieds lead generation space.

For a site like Yahoo, it makes sense to outsource its quotes to a company that already has relationships with dealers, and can focus on providing quotes, most likely at a far more efficient price since it has the volume with the other sides. Previously, Yahoo gathered the quotes on it own, and used a weekly auction to distribute its quotes to lead providers and OEMS.

For Yahoo, Dealix is replacing a home-grown Yahoo system that distributed new car quotes to lead providers and OEMS based on a weekly auction. Dealix will now manage, price and distribute all leads created at the Yahoo site, giving first preference to customers who buy leads from Dealix.

Dealix will be making an announcement about a used car lead relationship later this morning.

Dealix's model is to charge dealers only for the creation of a lead rather than the subscription-based model used by sites such as AutoTrader.com and Cars.com. Dealix is also active in marketing pre-owned cars via its UsedCars.com site as well as 30 independent automotive sites.
