Newspaper Circulation Down, Web Readers Up
A recent story by the Associated Press reported that overall newspaper circulation fell 2.5% from October 2005 to March 2006, continuing a long decline. At the same time, visits to newspapers' websites are growing briskly, as are the newspapers' online ad revenues. The sources for this data were the Newspaper Association of America and Nielsen/NetRatings.

Merrill Lynch Boosts Online Ad Outlook to More Than $16 Billion
According to Media Daily News, Merrill Lynch raised its forecast for this year's online ad market, predicting 28.7 percent growth. The previous estimate of 27.5% was raised due to Google's stronger-than-expected first quarter. For the same reason, Merrill Lynch bumped its paid search growth estimate from 31.6% to 32.7%.
