EDS and The Cobalt Group partner to bring unprecedented e-business integration to automotive retailers
May 20, 2002

EDS endorses Cobalt's industry-leading products and services

Troy, Michigan/Seattle, Washington (May 20, 2002) - EDS' Automotive Retail Group and The Cobalt Group have teamed together to ensure dealerships using an EDS supplied Dealer Management System will have superior integration to Cobalt's industry-leading suite of e-business applications and services.

Through a recently signed agreement between the two companies, Cobalt becomes EDS' preferred supplier of automotive retailing e-business products and services for their approximately 1,000 U.S. based Dealer Management System clients. Under the agreement, EDS will actively promote Cobalt's offerings such as the Nitra e-business technology platform to their existing client base while supplying electronic data collection (integration) of a dealership's new and used vehicle inventory and other data for use by Cobalt's applications. EDS will immediately begin migrating all of their automotive retail clients using EDS' Internet Automotive Network (I-A-N) to Cobalt's offerings. And as an added benefit to its customers, Cobalt will offer qualifying dealers EDS direct "open account" billing for Cobalt's e-business products and services.

"This agreement strengthens the EDS/Cobalt alliance that was established at the 2002 NADA Convention and showcases our desire to bring best-in-breed solutions to the automotive retail market environment," said Mark Allen, vice president of portfolios and technology for EDS' Automotive Retail Group. "EDS, as the industry's Pure-Play IT provider is constantly collaborating in new ways that will strengthen our product and service offerings while adding substantial value to our dealer clients. We believe that by providing seamless integration to Cobalt's e-business solutions, we have given our customers a superior offering in the Dealer Management System/e-commerce arena."

According to Mike Martinez, vice president of marketing for The Cobalt Group. "This partnership provides further evidence of Cobalt Nitra's open environment and the ease with which it integrates with other major automotive retail IT suppliers like EDS. By working hand-in-hand with EDS we are able to achieve new levels of integration that will allow dealers to seamlessly move data from their DMS out to the Web."
